Description

AHOY! :ahoy:

It's my first Nerf-steampunk gun. Because of this fact please be cruel and completely heartless in rating it. But of course hope you'll like it.w

Base, it's Hasbro Nerf Maverick. My changes applied to it, are: painting, real-brass barrel, natural leather grip, and a bit of trimming.
I know that my gun lacks on typical steampunk details, like cogs or signs of usage. But in fact I ment it to be like this. It's sad when some people think that when they'll pour something with glue and than throw a handful of cogs on it- they got steampunk. It's the easy way. I don't like the easy ways.

I dedicate this work, and concept for it to :iconjohnsonarms: . Be sure for check out his page. He is truly a specialist in nerf-design.

Working on my first steampunk Maverick as well. Got the base silver, then went over in brass, going to lay on some copper on key parts of the frame and I've taken the limiters off the ejection mechanism so the cylinder pops all the way out instead of just exposing only two chambers. (Still only exposed five chambers since the forward armature blocks the sixth, but it looks cool when you 'flick' it shut. Added bonus while it's popped all the way out you can spin the cylinder freely which you can't on the unmodded version since the receiver brushes against the cylinder braking it - very cool if you're playing Russian Nerfoulette.)

I like the subtle stuff you've done like the notches for kills, the ring you've put the the hammer (I was thinking like a karabiner but it was too thick and got stuck) and the leather grip. I've been thinking a lot about the grip, nice to know you can get away with pinning leather on there. Though I might rubber-dip it, which I haven't the first clue about.

Looks good and it's given me ideas.
